Draw Steel Beginner Guide
Start playing Draw Steel with the power roll, first hero choices, first Director prep, and the fastest route into The Delian Tomb.
What should a new player learn first?
Learn the 2d10 power roll, what your three actions do on a turn, and how surges and recoveries keep your hero moving.
What should a new Director prepare first?
Use the official resources, pick pregenerated heroes, read the rules reference, and run a short Delian Tomb session.
Power Roll First
Most Draw Steel confusion gets easier once the table understands that many tests and abilities use a 2d10 power roll with three result tiers.
Teach the result ladder before you teach every condition. Players can then read abilities as decisions instead of as isolated text.
- Roll 2d10 plus the relevant characteristic.
- Read the tier result on the ability.
- Apply edge, bane, surge, and potency only when a rule calls for it.
First Session Path
The fastest table path is rules reference, pregenerated heroes, Delian Tomb, then custom character creation after players know what their turns feel like.
